Warming Winter Wishlist

Here are a few items I am lusting over for Winter. I've been lucky enough to snag a couple of these already at around 40-50% off the normal retail price so I definitely suggest to start your Winter shopping early and stalk your favourite online stores - the early bird catches the worm as they say!

What do you have your eye on for the Winter season?

Pop: Girl Crushes

Exhibit 'A'
In the 90's and early 2000's I was obsessed by Pop; girl bands, boy bands, mixed gender bands I loved them all. You see I'm not adverse to a good cheesy pop song (and equally naff matching dance moves see exhibit A) as a matter of fact to this day I'm still partial to a good tune and a catchy beat.

Not only did I love the music but I would always gravitate my attention to one particular member who I could relate to the most. Usually I loved their style and personality and my favourite members would always be in ones I wanted to be or in the case of boy bands....the ones I wanted to marry (I'm looking at you Scott Robinson from 5ive)

Let's take a walk down memory lane shall we and see who were (and still are) my Pop Music Girl Crushes - with a fashion twist of course!

Rachel Stevens

Rachel first came to public attention as one of the members of S Club 7. From the moment I watched their appearances on Top of the Pops, saw their video clips and watched their TV shows I loved Rachel!  She was by far my favourite member and it didn't hurt that she shared my name.

The English beauty has far from felt the usual curse of the 90's pop star many of whom blur into obscurity. Rachel has released solo albums (with a 3rd on the way) and also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in the UK in 2008 going on to win the whole shebang. She is the face of the NEXT Petites range (yay for us short girls) and is working along side charity WaterAid.

Victoria Beckham

Add Cover Girl to the list of achievements
Victoria Beckham needs no introduction. She will always and forever be my favourite Spice Girl and at 17 years of age she is the person I wanted to be. I loved her wardrobe, her good looking boyfriend and I would have killed for her life.

Fast forward to 2013 and she is a successful fashion designer, mother and wife and quite frankly I would still trade places with her any day. She has showed many that it didn't matter that she was considered the worst singer in the group she has succeeded anyway - in your face haters.

Cheryl Cole

Perfection

If I had to look like one celebrity and one celebrity only it would Cheryl Cole. I adore everything about her from her enviable long locks to those gorgeous dimples and right down to her fashion style. To me she is utter perfection and can do no wrong.

Known for being 1/5 of girl group "Girls Aloud' formed out of Popstars: The Rivals, Cheryl has been able to since translate this into a successful solo career. Not only has she released 3 hit albums but is a spokesperson for L'Oreal Paris. She has recently topped a British pole for favourite hair icon along with   launching a shoe collection with StylistPick -  is there anything she can't do!

February Favourites

           Cursive Fonts

What was floating my boat this February you ask?

Make-up and beauty wise pretty much the same items as January however looking at February's favourites there seems to have been a lot of non -beauty related things appearing at the top of my list.

I totally need to get into the hang of posting my monthly favourites earlier than I do but it's a work in progress. Anyway let's check out what I was loving during February.

Farmville 2

Talk about addictive! I love this game although it does annoy me at times because I flat out refuse to pay for points/virtual money/credits etc. when it comes to games on Facebook games and sadly this is one of these. Regardless it is still fun and I'm sure to grow sick of it eventually.

Naris Up Lip Care Essence

I was first introduced to this lip gloss by Alex from HRH Collection who featured it in quite a few of her YouTube videos. I will be doing more of a detailed review of this shortly however it is a freakin miracle AMAZING! I swear it has some sort of magic powers..,,well you wouldn't know if there was as the instructions are in Japanese but I'm convinced there is.

Nudie Coconut Water

I'm a bit of a Coconut Water snob I will admit. I'm not a fan of the straight up varieties as I need a bit of flavour. Imagine my excitement when I picked up Nudie's Coconut Water in Coles on my lunch break and discovered how delicious it is! Definitely my favourite Coconut Water available in Australia.

Vege Chips

How could I have not known about these bad boys! I wasn't expecting much when I picked these up in my grocery shop but was blown away. I'm a sucker for all things Salt and Vinegar and have been all my life - these are no exception and they're good for you too - what more could a girl ask for.

Vanderpump Rules

Lisa Vanderpump is one of my favourite housewives from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills so I knew I had to check out her spin-off Vanderpump Rules.

I was hooked as soon as I watched the first episode. I love drama (when it's happening to other people) and this show has been added to my list of guilty pleasures! I'm praying it will be back for Season 2.

January Favourites

      Cursive Fonts

There have been some new discoveries and the re-occurrence of some long time favourites during the month of January. Want to know what I was loving last month?

1. MOR Marshmallow Perfume - Unavailable for what seemed like the longest time whilst it went through a bottle re-design I had to make do with my purse size rollerball until I managed to finally get my hands on the full size bottle in the La Dolce Vita gift set on sale at Myer in the post Christmas Sales. I've been using this religiously since then.

2. Real Techniques Brushes - I purchased these through iHerb late last year and have been a devotee ever since. I love the quality of these brushes along with the result they give. I'll definitely be adding more of these to my collection in the near future. If you want to get your hands on some for yourself I do suggest buying these off iHerb as they are a lot cheaper than they are at Priceline.

3. Revlon Colorstay Foundation - After hearing great reviews about this foundation I decided to give it a go for myself when Chemist Warehouse was having 50% off Revlon recently. This would have to be one of the best if not THE best foundation I have ever tried. It literally lasts all day on my skin which for someone who doesn't touch up throughout the day it is a miracle! I purchased the shade Buff which is a perfect match for my skintone.

1. Crown Brush 10 Colour Blush Palette - Purchased last year at IMATS I have been loving experimenting with different blush colours throughout January. I've been switching it up between my using HG Blush, NARS Orgasm and this palette. As they say "Change is as good as a holiday"

2. Revlon Lip Butters - late to jump onto the lip butter bandwagon I am now fully converted. I was put off by the cost of these here in Australia so never wanted to part with my cash but once I saw Priceline had 'Buy 1 Get One Free' last year I decided it was time to get my lip butter on! So far I have 3 and want to expand my collection asap as I have my eyes on some of the pink shades...hello Lollipop!

3. Maybelline Color Tattoo - Tattoo would be the correct word for these little babies! Perfect for all day wear they stay on even in the warmest of conditions and for this reason I love them! I either wear them alone when I'm too lazy or use them as a base for my other eyeshadows - either way they are a winner.

Top - Ice Printed Beach Pants
Bottom - Kmart Harem Pants

Printed Pants - I'm a lover of printed pants but as most of the styles I saw were of the skin-tight jean variety I just resorted to the fact that I would never be able to squeeze my fat thighs pull them off (literally). However I can now jump on the trend since I snapped up these babies from Kmart (the black and white pair above) and Tropical Printed Beach Pants from Ice (above and below). The best thing about these is that they can be dressed up or down and can be teamed with blazers when the weather is less than desirable.

                                  Photo taken from Rachel's Instagram

Rachel and Byron Talbott - This month saw my YouTube obsession continue with the discovery of the channels of husband and wife duo , Rachel and Byron Talbott.

Rachel's channel is beauty and fashion related and Byron, who is a chef, has his own food chanel. If you think all this is hard work they also have a channel which sees them post daily vlogs of their adventures.

In addition to all this Rachel also has a great blog, Check in the Mirror, which I am also obsessed with! Go on "Check" it out - see what I did there!

Sydney Beauty Bloggers Meet Up : High Coffee at The Intercontinental Hotel

Saturday 3rd February saw some of my fellow Sydney Beauty Bloggers meet-up for High Coffee at the Intercontinental Sydney. Organised by Michaela from Lather Rinse Repeat the afternoon was a decadent foray into the wonderful world of coffee - sweet sweet coffee and food -  lots and lots of food!

All Hail the Expresso Martini
The menu was divided into portions similar to that of  a degustation menu with a coffee served to match each "course". Firstly we started with an Expresso Martini whilst we devoured afternoon sandwiches with my favourite being the Wagyu Beef, cucumber relish and watercress panini.

Sweet sweet condiments

To cleanse our palates we followed all this yumminess with Green Apple Sorbet which was heaven sent to ready our taste buds for the next adventure.

Lastly saw a cafe coretto served to enjoy along with the generous selection of sweets on offer - including my perennial favourite - Macarons

Cafe Coretto

This would have to be one of the most generous servings I have seen when it comes to High Tea/Coffee and at $55 per person I think you get more than enough bang for your buck. My only criticism (and some would say that this isn't a bad thing) was that I would have liked more savoury items to balance out the sweetness  as by the end of the afternoon I was buzzing off the walls on a sugar high or maybe that was a coffee high (of which? Well that will remain a mystery)

These are the faces of some very happy and very content Beauty Bloggers

The Afternoon High Coffee at the Cortile Bar is $55 per person which includes a martini on arrival, cafe freddo and your choice of coffee or cafe corretto and is available each day from 11am to 7pm. For anyone that isn't a coffee fan a High Tea option is also available.

To escape on your own High Coffee journey visit Intercontinental Sydney for reservations or to examine the extensive menu for yourself.

***High Coffee at the Intercontinental Sydney was offered to us at a discount rate however this has not influenced my opinion on the experience and my reviews are reflected in all honesty***
