Guest Post: Go Bright this Winter in Neon!

When colder days loom it is easy to forget that colour exists and live in a wardrobe of a beige, brown and black. But with cosy options springing up in all colours under the neon rainbow there is no excuse not to try this season’s hottest trend.

As we are now heading for chillier weather a chunky knit that will keep us wrapped up all toasty warm is just what we need. To make a real style statement try neon orange, it might sound scary but orange will brighten anyone’s skin tone and make you look bright eyed and bushy tailed! Team your new knit with tailored trousers, and if you feel rather daring make them printed too! This will be one on trend look once you have finished!

Dresses don’t have to just be for summer, they look great with a long knitted cardigan and thick opaque tights when the temperature drops. Neon dresses can turn from day to night with simply the removal of your tights and cardi and the popping on of some metallic platform wedges and a boyfriend style blazer. For the day keep accessories to a minimum but for all out evening glam pile on the gold bangles and drop earrings. Pink is always a flattering and feminine shade and neon will give this colour added edge.

If your winter wardrobe consists of jeans, jeans and more jeans try stepping out of your comfort zone slightly by opting for coloured ones, and what would be more stylish than to follow the neon trend? Neon yellow trousers are bound to turn heads, so are a great choice for a chilled out first date when you don’t want to look like you have tried TOO hard but still look mega hot. Team this look with a black leather biker jacket to create a rock chick look. Ankle boots will finish this look brilliantly.

If the thought of neon clothing is a little scary then start off by incorporating small flashes of colour into your accessories. A neon bag will instantly update any outfit and bring it bang up to date. And don’t worry about colour clashing, a neon bag will look fab with anything from skinny jeans to a cute day dress with tights. (Plus colour clashing is pretty cool too!)

So, when picking out essentials for your news season wardrobe, be sure to embrace colour (especially neon). Go on, I dare you!

In the nature of full disclosure this Guest Post is bought to you by ASOS. Who doesn't love ASOS and not to mention NEON!!

To get your own slice of the neon pie ASOS can fulfill your every wish this coming Winter! Brighten those dull days with BRIGHTS!

Australis? Like Tote-ally!

If you are like me you love a cute tote bag to lug around all your extra stuff; lunches, spare shoes etc to work with you - all those things you either won't or can't fit in your handbag. Luckily for us Australis have teamed up with Melbourne clothing and accessory label Chip Chop! to help encourage us to get excited about putting on make-up and most importantly to have fun!

The result are 2 very playful and fun slogan tote bags which are sure to garner some attention to the carrier!

Which tote would you choose? I quite like "Make Me-Up Before I Go-Go!" although this may make me burst out in spontaneous song...as fact would have it I've had Wham in my head since the beginning of this post - darn catchy 80's tunes! And well I am a bit cray cray about make-up so maybe "Put the Make-up in the Bag and Nobody Gets Hurt" may be more my style!

So you want your own piece of the action hey? Then it's your lucky day as these totes (valued at $39.95) are available now and best of all they are free with purchase when you spend $25 or more on any Australis products - how good is that!  Australis have a great range to spend your money on - may I suggest the Paparazzi Perfect HD Foundation, Blush and Eyeshadow for instance... LOVE THEM!!

Yankee Doodle Dandy!

For as long as I can remember I have had an intense love affair with candles. I love how your mood can instantly be lifted by smelling a delicious scent along with the mood a lit candle creates.  I had been wanting to try Yankee Candles for some time after hearing them constantly being referred to by a number of Beauty Guru's over the years and lusting over the extensive list of scents they come in.  I was lucky enough to receive a selection of Yankee's finest for consideration to enable me to share my thoughts with all of you.

The best way to get to know Yankee Candles is to get the details straight from the source;

"Yankee Candle has become the #1 most-recognized name in the candle business and the country's best selling candle brand by sharing our customers' “passion for fragrance” in every product we bring to market.

Today, with over 150 fragrances, we offer the world's largest and most compelling selection of candle and home fragrance scents. In addition to our renowned Housewarmer® line of scented candles, we also provide a wide range of seasonal and specialty scented candles, home fragrance products, car fresheners and candle accessories."

So which was my favourite scent you ask? The hands down, call your mother, shout it from the roof tops favourite was 'Vanilla Cupcake'. Described as a rich and creamy vanilla cupcake scented candle with hints of lemon and buttery icing it lives up to all expectations and was by far my favourite. I'm quite sad this had to come to an end and it is definitely on my purchase list, just in the biggest size I can lay my hands on!

I can't wait to try many more scents. I'm most interested in:

Coconut Bay
Gingerbread
Pumpkin Pie
Sparkling Cinnamon
Cinnamon Stick
Spiced Pumpkin

All images taken from the Official Yankee Candle website
A special mention to Chocolate Bunnies - how adorable is this?  I have to have this for Easter it's just too cute!!!! I die!

C'mon!! Be a sticky beak....Inside My Handbag

Source
For the longest time I have wanted to do a what's in my handbag style post but I had never gotten around to it - that is until now. So sit back, relax and let your inner sticky beak run wild while we play....."WHAT'S IN MY HANDBAG" (**Insert random cheesy audience clap here)

My handbag is a Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM which I bought myself as a 30th birthday present last year. It is the perfect size as it fits everything without being awkward to carry around. It is probably the best purchase I've ever made and I pretty much consider it an investment, at least that is how I have rationalise spending that much money.

Firstly I have my Mimco Purse, Mimco Pouch, Australis Gold Cosmetic Pouch (a free gift with purchase), my Bourne Naked handbag organiser, iPhone, sun glass case and Oroton Umbrella.

Now let's take a look at everything individually.

The one negative with my Mimco purse is that there isn't nearly enough card space for my liking so I've put all my additional store/reward cards etc into my Mimco pouch. You would have seen this in my previous post about my after Christmas Sale steals!! It's silver and sparkly and the perfect companion!!

Next I have the few cosmetics I carry around with me. From the top; Face of Australia  Divine Shine Lip Lacquer in Morning Mist, YSL Touche Eclat in #1 and #2, Clinque High Impact lipstick in Rosette, Benefit 'That Gal" Primer, Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme, Sheercover Lip Gloss in Pink Praline, Burt's Bees Nail File and Burt's Bees Honey and Grapeseed Oil Hand Cream

I'm not one to just throw everything into my handbag so I love my Bourne Naked handbag organiser. It is super easy to see what is where as it is clear and you know exactly where to find your keys, hair clips etc etc. The contents of my Bourne Naked handbag organiser include; Forever New Diary, Eclipse Mints, Band Aids, Keys, Hair Clips, Oroton Business Card Holder, 2 perfume purse sprays, Chanel mirror, work key, iPhone USB cable and emergency iPhone battery.

Phew! How's that for contents?

I would love to see what each of you have in your handbag cause ssssh....I'm a sticky beak too!!!

No Time Like The Present

Source
Between my impromptu break throughout January and consequent bad internet for the month of February (all solved now with a new modem) I have been yet to show you my Post-Xmas Sale haulage. Well as the title suggests now is the time!

I had requested my Mum and my boyfriend to give me vouchers for Christmas as I had my eye on a few items I knew would be hugely discounted come January and boy am I glad I did. What did I snap up you ask? Well keep reading...........

First up I paid Oroton a visit! I had been drooling over a few items at Oroton well before Christmas and knew how much of a bargain I was getting once the sale began.

First up I picked up this gorgeous Business Card Holder and best of all..it's leopard print! Now I don't have Business Cards for work but I do for Fashion Fantabulous and figured this is a much nicer look than pulling out cards haphazardly ABBW style, in fact I'm pretty sure I had them secured with a hair elastic back in September last year...so professional :)

Now if you know me you know I like things to match. I had been lusting over this little lemon lovely for the longest time but just couldn't bring myself to pay full price, after all in my eyes it's still a keyring, however the sale price was quite a steal so how could I complain! Luckily I realised that the colour of the keyring actually matches the leopard spots on the Business Card Holder..MATCH SCORE (in the colour matching sense not sporting arena). How can you resist this little cutie - I HEART it!!

Unfortunately I cannot remember the price I paid for each of these items however I do know that I pretty much purchased both Oroton pieces for what I would of paid for one item alone which is always a good thing.

Secondly I hit up Mimco and picked up this keyring and pouch set.

Now this purchase I wanted before Christmas, infact it even appeared in my Christmas Wishlist however I just couldn't justify the $100 price tag when I had a gut feeling I could get this during the Christmas sale. The price of this I do remember because I was so excited at the bargain I managed to get, my boyfriend thought I was the biggest weirdo but what can i say bargain shopping gives me a thrill! The set was marked down to $49.95 AND then I received another 30% off so you can see why I was soooo happy!!

See the sweet price woo hooo!!!!!
Now being the beginning of a new year I needed a new diary...come on down Forever New!! How cute are the icecream coloured stripes! This was a huge bargain at $14.95 and I love the organiser type style. It even has a section to play noughts and crosses - how gorgeous is that!!!!
Did you score any awesome bargains in the Post-Christmas Sales?
